Today's guest is the
wife of Yusuf ibn Ayyub ibn Shadi of S.P. Grogan's CRIMSON SCIMITAR: ATTACK ON AMERICA 2001-2027.
I have been asked to speak of myself and have agreed upon the condition that this is for informational background purposes only and shall never be released to the public in any form whatsoever. And I have been given such assuredness this will be so. I hear they might write a book on this Crimson Scimitar Affair and I pray to Allah no one writes our story for our lives will be put at risk.
I am the wife of Yusuf ibn Ayyub ibn Shadi, the famous British-Egyptian Islamic scholar, known by his writings as ‘Saladin’, The Unifer. We live humbly above my husband’s teaching school in Whitechapel, close to the East London Mosque. I have grown up to this my 19th year being called Sabz, this in Farsi means ‘green’ because of my eyes, which my husband calls them, when we are alone, emeralds of passion. Silly man.
One of my duties is to help Saladin in editing his second treatise soon to be published, the first an international bestseller bringing him fame and a great deal of royalties which I handle, as he does not do well with financial matters. My day job is working with Lloyds Banking Group where I specialize in the accounts of customers, British Muslims and from the Middle East as I speak several dialects fluently.
Today, it is raining, as usual. England is like that. Not so much torrents as in constant, grey drizzling. I am waiting to meet with my friend, Samantha Carlisle, the international fashion designer, who opened her bank account with me, and we became fast friends, and through her, I directed my husband to hire her boyfriend’s security company, Holmes Security, to protect Saladin when he goes on speaking engagements. I do fear for him, for I do not wish to be a martyr’s widow.
Saladin, and more skeptically am I, believes he may be a prophet whose destiny is to unite the Sunni – Shia divisions of Islam. To have both sides of a religion who believe the other apostate and heretic does not bode well for one who says, ‘come let us be brothers together’. Within the last year I have come a long way with him (in privacy I call him ‘Khalaf’). To his former associates in the Jihad Khalaf is no more, killed for the Higher Cause, which I care less of. Only a few, our Mysterious Angels, know of his death, his resurrection, and this his beginning pilgrimage he now leads. How long this will last, I have no idea. I must weigh my options, but today I am happy.
Samantha and I will have a late lunch at Alain Ducasse’s restaurant in The Dorchester, talk of fashion and soccer, and later we will discuss serious matters of our investments in American tech stocks and of new security precautions for Saladin. Samantha today will see I am wearing her late summer design from the new boutique couture she has opened on Bond Street. She of course will be flaunting glamorous. The talent Sam possesses has brought out in me, caterpillar to butterfly, draped in a banker stylish dress that speaks success-- a Dubai Moroccan blue abaya, beaded floor length, acceptably demure within pleasing eyes of the public, and of men. I, of course, will change my clothes back to my charcoal well-worn burqa before I go to our home. My husband still cannot rid himself of certain strict Islamic codes who believe women are to be protected as obedient chattel. From our personal experience this last year, during the Crimson Scimitar Affair, he has come to know my mind, and of my persuasive abilities.
Samantha, my friend, has arrived, smiling, she who gives me strength. But she will never know my secret, that I am the niece of Emir Tahir Yuldashev of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU), killed in 2009, and that my father sold me for a large dowry and political concessions as a bride to al Qaeda to that scum dog Gupta. When Allah intervened and brought down the American bomb and killed many, leaving Khalaf injured, alive in the rubble, it was destined that Khalaf would be my answer to my own survival. Yes, we are two deaths, two resurrections. Khalaf and Allah saved me, but these Mysterious Angels have now arrived. Allah be merciful and save me again, and yes, save Khalaf, even perhaps to do Your Will.
Crimson Scimitar by S.P. Grogan is an expansive action-adventure terrorist thriller that tells the ‘what if’ story of the al Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden. What if, in 2011, instead of being killed bin Laden is captured and put on trial, what would American justice look like, and would the outcome be as expected? What if prior to his capture he and al Qaeda were planning to launch on America worse than 9/11? Who could stop it? In Crimson Scimitar is the chase to capture bin Laden, the ‘Trial of the Century’, the diabolical Crimson Scimitar plot in action, and climactic ‘gun battle at the bridge.’ Author S.P. Grogan’s writing seamlessly blends the political War on Terrorism events of 2011 into a realistic landscape that features strong women characters, an eccentric multi-millionaire, reality television stars, SEAL members on the attack, battling defense and prosecution lawyers, CIA agents, the President of the United States, and an ambitious jihadist who will begin a violent transformative journey. More intriguing is how the terrorist plot was crated that will lead to stock market manipulation, attacks on amusement parks, and nuclear waste poisoning. And amid it all there are romantic challenges that must be faced to create strong bonds to fight against evil. Crimson Scimitar is labeled as the ‘Awakening Epic of Our Times’, reminding readers that a 9/11 could happen again and that we must be vigilant.

S.P. Grogan in 2008 gained recognition with his first novel, Vegas Die, a Quest Mystery, in which the writing were clues that led the ‘Questor’ to seek out a dagger hidden somewhere in the Vegas Valley to be redeemed for $25,000 cash. Launching a fan-based treasure hunt Vegas Die became a best-seller, and an award for ‘Best Regional’ fiction. S.P. Grogan calls himself an eclectic storyteller in that he seeks out blending history and romance into various genres to create unusual plotting. In 2019, academic publisher Histria Books negotiated to acquire the author’s existing catalogue of four novels for re-issuing and an option on the next several stories he might create. Lafayette: Courtier to Crown Fugitive tells the coming-of-age story of the young Marquis de La Fayette, ‘France’s richest orphan’ and delves into his quest to revenge the death of his father, and his unbridled ambition to escape the intrigues of the court of Queen Marie Antoinette and go to the American colonies to find glory. In 2022, Captain Cooked, A Hawaiian Mystery of Romance, Revenge and Recipes won “Best Novel” from Gourmand International Cookbook Awards. Here, the author writes from the first-person perspective of a twentyish LA woman who is filming her father’s top cable cooking show when she stumbles into the murder of a famous Hawaiian singing star (think ‘Iz’), and struggles with romantic ‘love on all the wrong beaches’ when she has to choose between a thief, a king, and a murderer. Best-selling author Anne Hillerman said of Captain Cooked: “It reads like Janet Evanovich morphing into Rachel Ray while filming a remake of Perils of Pauline. Coming out in August 2023 is Atomic Dreams at the Red Tiki Lounge, an elaborately crafted Hawaiian fantasy-thriller set in post World War 2 Honolulu with the gods fighting against mutated demons, star-crossed romance, where future famous people pass through the doors of the Red Tiki. There’s even Russians seeking to steal an Atomic Bomb. Artwork illustrations provided by famed surrealist artist, Brad ‘Tiki Shark’ Parker. Finally, is Crimson Scimitar, which has been described as ‘the awakening epic of our times’ to be released September 2023. Multiple story lines including Hollywood Culture takes on Terrorists. The reader will be amazed how the author can take current history and give it resonance to today’s events and still provide a thriller with unusual twists including the warning: ‘9/11 can happen again.’ Author S.P. Grogan lives in Henderson, Nevada, and is working on his next novel.
