Character Interview with Mavis Bracken from Amber Leigh Williams' NAVY SEAL'S MATCH

Our guest character today is Mavis Bracken, a character out of Amber Leigh Williams' NAVY SEAL'S MATCH. Enjoy the interview!

Thank you so for this interview, Mavis.  Do you feel you were fairly portrayed or would you like to set anything straight with your readers?

I’m okay with what the writer turned out on the page, actually. She even managed to cull out my particular brand of sarcasm nicely.

What do you believe is your strongest trait?

Besides the sarcasm? As the Navy SEAL you see on the cover tells me, I’m an old soul. I’ve always had the ability to see people for what they are more than what they project. It comes in handy in everyday life and even when doing my job—paranormal investigation.

Worst trait?

My big brother (a different and much more stubborn Navy SEAL) tells everyone that my faith in people sometimes gets me into trouble. Particularly when the person in question happens to be the man I was talking about before….

Do you have a love interest in the book?

Did I mention the man on the cover? Gavin Savitt, former Navy SEAL. No need to listen to what my brother says. When I see someone in pain, I can’t stay away.

At what point of the book did you start getting nervous about the way it was going to turn out?

Well, when your love interest is a drifter and your faith in them is put through the ringer, you’re forced to hold your breath.

If you could trade places with one of the other characters in the book, which character would you really not want to be and why?

He’s stronger than he thinks he is, but Gavin is tested far more than anyone else in this story, including me. He’s lost his job as a SEAL, he’s lost the better part of his sight and he deals everyday with PTSD. Helping him cope with these things and make a new normal for himself hasn’t been easy, but it’s a great deal harder being in his shoes, I know.

How do you feel about the ending of the book without giving too much away?

It’s hard not to give anything away. I’ll say that it turns out just the way it should. I say a lot things I didn’t expect I would, but I’m happy I say them nonetheless.

What words of wisdom would you give your author if she decided to write another book with you in it?

Keep up the good sarcasm. Could my brother be a little bit quieter? I also think Gavin and my parents have been through enough trauma so if the next book could have a little less drama where they’re concerned, I’d appreciate it.

Will we be seeing more of you in the future?

A little birdie told me that Book 7 is in the works and since the hero happens to be my ex, I’d say I’ll make a decent cameo. Stay tuned!

There are a million reasons why Gavin shouldn’t be with Mavis, including that she’s his best friend’s little sister. Yet he longs for her touch, her freckles and her special way with wild, skittish beasts like him. He just needs the courage to take his life back. And Mavis won’t let him give up without a fight.
