Character Interview: Olivia Lewis from Amber Leigh Williams' contemporary romance MARRIED ONE NIGHT

We’re thrilled to have here today Olivia Lewis from Amber Leigh Williams’ contemporary romance, Married One Night. She’s coming to us all the way from the great state of Alabama.  It is a pleasure to have her with us today at The Literary Nook!

Thank you so for this interview, Olivia.  Now that the book has been written, do you feel you were fairly portrayed or would you like to set anything straight with your readers?

I think Amber did pretty well…though at times it did feel as if she were rooting and against me and for Gerald, the guy who spent the whole book trying to woo me into staying married to him despite the fact that I didn’t want to be married and I barely knew him at the time. Who can blame her, though? The guy’s too charming for his own good.

What do you believe is your strongest trait?

I’m independent. I can take care of myself and have, gladly, since my parents left the family tavern business to me years ago.

Worst trait?

I’m stubborn as all hell. Gerald found that out really quick. They say it’s a family trait. All of us Lewises are stubborn to the bone, which you see toward the end of the book when some other family members step in.

Do you have a love interest in the book?

Now that it’s all said and done, I can admit that Gerald was the frontrunner from the beginning. There was something about him I loved from the get-go, despite the fact that I fought against our relationship. Who wouldn’t fall in love with him? There’s nobody like him. No, really. He’s actually one-of-a-kind. You’d be hard-pressed to find another hero who’s a modern-day renegade earl and a bestselling author and who’s been trained in sword-fighting and has the scars to prove it?

At what point of the book did you start getting nervous about the way it was going to turn out?

Early on when Gerald winds up in the hospital after an accident involving a stray dog and the erratic driver he was trying to save the poor animal from. I realized then how much he meant to me for the first time. The tipping point comes much later when I fall head over heels for him…but the accident marked the beginning.

If you could trade places with one of the other characters in the book, which character would you really not want to be and why?

Well, Gerald does wind up with a concussion and a separated shoulder. I had to nurse him through both and shortly after I wouldn’t have traded places with him for anything. (Don’t tell him I told you this, but he’s a bit tougher than I am.)

How do you feel about the ending of the book without giving too much away?

Everything ended in the right place. Even though it wasn’t what I would have bet on from the beginning, I’m very happy with the result!

What words of wisdom would you give your author if she decided to write another book with you in it?

I think Amber’s written two more books with me in a secondary character role—A Place With Briar (the prequel to my book)—and the third book in the series which will be published by Harlequin Superromance next year. I hope that since she liked torturing me so much with Gerald’s antics in this book that she gives the other characters who were rooting for him so hard (my friends Adrian and Roxie in particular) the same treatment when their time comes later. Wink, wink.

Thank you for this interview.  Will we be seeing more of you in the future?

I think Amber’s planning on writing a fourth book to tie up the series so I’ll definitely be around for more fun. And thank you for the interview – it was a pleasure!

About the Book:

What happened in Vegas…followed her home!

Olivia Lewis is not the marrying type. So when a wild weekend in Vegas leaves her with a surprise husband, she's happy to sign anything to erase her mistake—even if that mistake is handsome, charming and comes with an English accent. Fortunately, her groom has other plans.

Bestselling author Gerald Leighton knows he can make his new bride fall in love with him—he just needs time. In exchange for a quickie divorce, Olivia grudgingly gives him a few weeks to attempt to woo her. And whether Olivia likes it or not, Gerald plans on using every second to win her heart!
