Q&A: Kimberly Cole, Author of The Vision of the Quest #Q&A #Interview #TheVisionoftheQuest

Kimberly Cole was born in Baltimore and raised in Millersville, Maryland. She grew up in a very small home with six brothers and sisters. This was the beginning of where the fuse was lit with great expectations of creating stories to be read throughout the world. She completed high school at Old Mill High. Her hobbies are writing novels and reading good books. She finds it an enjoyment to help others by giving to charities, because they go to places she cannot be and charities impact lives which she may never get to see.  Ms. Cole’s favorite authors are C.S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia) and Frank Peretti (Piercing the Darkness).

Would you say it’s been a rocky road for you in regard to getting your book written and published or pretty much smooth sailing?  Can you tell us about your journey?

I wouldn’t say it’s been all smooth sailing, but every challenge has been a valuable part of the journey. There were moments that felt like navigating stormy seas, but they taught me resilience, patience, and the

importance of trusting the process. From writing the first draft to finding the right publishing path, each step has brought its own lessons. Those experiences have shaped not only my book but also me as an author, and I’m grateful for the growth they’ve inspired. Looking back, I see it as a journey of transformation rather than obstacles—it’s made this achievement all the more meaningful.

When not writing, what do you like to do for relaxation and/or fun?

When I’m not writing, I enjoy observing the changing seasons, especially the vibrant colors of autumn leaves and enjoying a toasty fire on cold winter nights. I also love to read, and my favorite book is The Book of Life, the Bible. It’s filled with incredible adventures, epic battles, heartfelt love stories, and, most importantly, timeless truths that stand the test of time. Much like The Vision of the Quest, if one looks deeply enough, they’ll uncover hidden portals, dimensions, and so much more waiting to be discovered.

What makes your book stand out from the rest?

With my book, it's like being hooked on a fishing line—once you're caught, you can’t stop struggling to find out what happens next. Each page reels you in, making you eager to discover the next twist, the next strategic move, the next piece of the puzzle, until the very end of the story.

Can you give us the very first page of your book so that we can get a glimpse inside?

Liana, a mother of two girls and a mother figure to a young man named Roger was in a desperate situation. Worry etched into her face as dark clouds partially covered the moon, shadowing a fragment of its light. The pervading grimness of the surroundings made it difficult to see. The trees looked like they would reach out and grab her, as a chilly breeze blew through the air.

Her car broke down, far from civilization where cellphone services were nonexistent. She and her kids got out of the car as Liana cried softly, tears of stress cascading into her smooth, ivory skin. These past two years had been a struggle, then now this happens. More importantly, I’m worried about my kids’ safety on this pitch-black, lonely road.

She began introspecting. Well, at least I have Roger with me, built more robust and taller than most sixteen-year-olds. If someone did stop to bring harm, they might think of Roger as a man and go on, but how strange... it’s been over two hours, and still, no sign of a vehicle, not even an eighteen- wheeler, which are usually present during the late hours.

“Mom, my hands are going numb. I can barely feel them,” complained Emily, her spunky nine-year-old daughter.

Liana reached for Emily’s cold hands and rubbed them as she turned toward Alicia and Roger. “I’m amazed by the sudden change of weather. Storms are to be expected during the summer, but this sudden drop in temperature is unusual. I wonder if I took a wrong turn.” Liana gently touched Emily’s cold cheeks.

“Get back in the car, dear. I don’t need you catching a bad cold and have your asthma act up again. I will be there in a few minutes.”

Liana brushed her long blonde hair out of her face, displaying her high cheekbones and dazzling blue eyes. She saw lights flickering about a mile ahead, thinking it might be a hotel—or anything, for that matter. She was nervous but kept her voice calm for her children’s sake. “We need to walk toward the lights. I feel it’s our only option.”

Alicia, her fifteen-year-old, quickly affirmed but was cut off by her little sister.

“Mom, I am turning into an ice pop, my nose feels like it’s falling off.” Emily cuddled her mom. “Mom, I want to go home, please, I want to go home,” she repeated.

If your book was put in the holiday section of the store, what holiday would that be and why?

Although the Quest faced horrific darkness and great challenges, I believe Easter is a powerful reminder that Jesus conquered death, hell, and the grave, overcoming every shadow and struggle. The reason for this is simple: when life knocks you down and beats you up, there’s an unyielding spirit within you that gives you the strength to rise one more time and fight for victory!

Would you consider turning your book into a series or has that already been done?

Yes, I’m currently working on book two and have plans for book three. I have a strong ambition to see this series brought to the big screen someday—it’s an exciting goal I’m passionate about pursuing.

When you were young, did you ever see writing as a career or full-time profession?

When I was young, I knew I could write even before I picked up a pen. I saw it as a gift meant to be a blessing to others and never really thought of it as a full-time profession.

What’s next on your to do list?

My goal is to complete books two and three of The Vision of the Quest as well as other book projects.

The Vision of the Quest is available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Ewings Publishing LLC.
